Wellington Agency Launches Groundbreaking ‘Chair Activation’ in Office Kitchen

WELLINGTON — In a bold move that redefines the limits of creativity and patience, indie agency Karmic&Co has unveiled its latest in-house innovation: the ‘Kitchen Chair Activation™.’

According to the internal press memo (which included two mood boards and an 87-slide deck), the campaign revolved around moving a single IKEA Stefan chair to face outward toward the fridge, thus encouraging “intentional pausing” during lunch breaks. On-brand for an agency where everything, even boil-up leftovers, must align with a strategic framework.

“We’re calling it disruption of habitual posture,” said Head of Cultural Insights, Minka Hall, gesturing at the slightly-angled chair. “When someone instinctively goes to sit down and realises the chair is facing the fridge, not the table, it forces them to reevaluate their relationship with rest. We’ve seen a 12% increase in ‘purposeful lunching’ since last Tuesday.”

Staff have reportedly started referring to the space as the 'Mindful Micro Pod' and take turns sitting in it, staring pensively at the yoghurt shelf. One senior planner claimed it helped him solve a six-month-old brief for a cereal brand. The client was not contacted for comment. Next up, Karmic&Co is reportedly workshopping a VR version of the chair using a cracked headset and 2014 GoPro footage from a Dunedin flat party.
