Auckland Agency Launches 'Emergency Brainstorm Alarm' Following Last-Minute Client Briefs

Auckland creative agency BigMood™ has officially installed what they’re calling the 'Emergency Brainstorm Alarm' — a high-pitched siren designed to trigger an immediate war-room scenario anytime a Friday 4:47pm brief hits inboxes. The move, according to BigMood's Head of Synergistic Vibes, Nigel P., is part of a broader strategy to 'meet chaos with controlled hysteria.'

The alarm is connected to Slack, Office365, and an intern named Murray. When activated, all decks are cleared, oat flat whites are manually distributed, and the entire account team is locked in the whiteboard room until someone says something with the word 'pivot.' Notably, the alarm can only be deactivated when a junior creative uses the phrase 'what if we flipped the brief?'

Initial tests have been mixed. During the first activation, one art director attempted to evacuate via air duct, and two client service staff spontaneously developed ‘personal commitments’ in Rotorua. However, agency leadership remains optimistic. 'It’s about creating urgency without solutions,' said Nigel, adjusting a vintage Aroha beanie to convey thoughtfulness.

In a bold move, BigMood is also trialling a 'post-brief recovery corner' featuring blackout curtains, leftover Christmas chocolates and a VHS of vintage Toyota Hilux ads narrated exclusively by dogs. A pilot found that 64% of junior staff returned to basic motor function within four hours.

The agency insists this is not a gimmick, but rather a reflection of their commitment to 'adaptive creativity' and 'bravery that looks good in case studies.' When asked if the alarm has produced any campaign-worthy ideas yet, Nigel blinked slowly and replied, 'Define campaign.'
