Agency Implements Mandatory Zen Garden Time to Combat Brief Rage
In a bold move to reduce intra-agency violence and passive-aggressive feedback loops, Auckland agency Strobe & Wriggle has introduced a new mandatory policy: silent Zen Garden Time every morning at 8:42 a.m. sharp.
The initiative, dubbed 'Rake & Rebalance', was rolled out last Monday after the fourth producer in two months was found weeping gently into a RACI chart. "It's not about deliverables anymore. It's about inner deliverance," said agency Partner and certified Reiki enthusiast, Denise Plume, while misting a bowl of gravel with rose water from the in-house hydration sommelier.
Employees are required to remove shoes, switch off Slack notifications, and rake miniature gravel beds while contemplating script revisions they’ll never get client sign-off on. Surprisingly, it’s been met with widespread enthusiasm. “It’s the only non-meeting time I have,” said one junior copywriter. “Honestly, I do my best work while watching Steve from Accounts try to erase a spiral with a novelty rake.”
Several other agencies are already piloting similar wellness strategies. A Wellington firm recently introduced ‘Mandala Mondays’, while one Christchurch PR outfit has reportedly hired a full-time harpist to score all internal brainstorms in real time. Strobe & Wriggle, however, remains confident theirs is the only programme with a certified moss curator.
